Precision Metal Fabrication
We offer a precision fabrication and sheet metal facility specialising in high precision work for the Aerospace and Telecommunications industries. We are able to produce a wide variety of complex parts and structured assemblies, both large and small, mainly from aluminium and mild steel but also from many other materials including gauge stainless steel, zintec and polycarbonate.
Our high speed punch press will punch 200 holes per minute at 25mm centres or up to 400 holes per minute when contour nibbling. It has multi-tool turret (two of which are fully indexable) and punches with a standard stock size of 1250 x 1000mm which can be extended with auto-repositioning. We also have high precision CNC press brakes, the largest of which is a 100 tonne machine which can form lengths up to 3.1m. Fabricated assemblies are constructed using coded welders who are certified to aviation standard. Alternative methods such as Pem stud spot welding and riveting are also utilised.
Waterjet cutting technology offers significant setup and machining time improvements. Central to this is a lower component manufacturing cost thanks to a more efficient process requiring fewer operations and a reduced machining time.
The greatest advantage waterjet cutting provides is the ability to profile pure copper components with a minimum of waste, as other methods such as wire eroding, laser cutting and plasma cutting etc. are not suitable because of the heat induced recast layer generated on the cut surface. It is also extremely flexible and can be used to make thousands of identical parts for high volume manufacturing right down to one-off, bespoke parts. The ability to modify existing parts without the need for expensive re-tooling or setups is as an added benefit – saving time and money and providing ultimate flexibility for the customer.
