Visit by Local Parliamentary Candidate

We were delighted to welcome local Conservative Parliamentary candidate Laurence Robertson to the Tewkesbury factory last Friday to see our latest advanced manufacturing machinery and meet the staff and management team.

One of the main challenges that Kenard and other manufacturing organisations face, is to compete globally with lower cost economies. However, continuous investment in the latest advanced technologies (both machinery and automation software) and skilled staff, has helped Kenard to successfully win business and bring work back to the UK thanks to the high level of quality and delivery times that it can now promise.

Following an impressive 10% increase in turnover this financial year and ambitious business growth plans for 2015/16, it was a good time to arrange a visit from a local Member of Parliament. We were able to demonstrate first-hand evidence of a successful, privately owned UK manufacturing company and to discuss what government initiatives are being planned to address skills shortages and business support for the industry. As a local employer, Kenard has a workforce of 64 people and has a strong commitment to continuous personal development, apprenticeships and graduate employment. This is reflected in the long service and progression through the organisation of a number of our employees.

David Banham, Managing Director of Kenard Engineering explains, “I am a strong advocate of UK manufacturing and the critical impact its success has on the economic growth of both the local area and the UK. That’s why it’s important to meet with Laurence Robertson and take the opportunity to talk about the real issues that are affecting companies like Kenard. It also gives us the chance to share the positive stories about our people and products to raise the profile of our business within the community.”
